Stances: Kosa Dachi


23 - Gankaku

 

Kosa dachi (or the crossed legged stance) is a unique stance, first encountered in Heian Yondan, and

(such as Empi and Gankaku). Be careful to maintain a good centre of balance when using this stance.select katas after that

 

 

  • Onefoot supports 70% of your weight, and must point straight forward
  • The other the front half of your other foot touches the ground, tucked right behind the front foot
  • Keep your legs close together in this crossed position and BEND your knees!
